Premiere at Hartware MedienKunstVerein Dortmund: The video DEFENDER by Andrea Winkler and Stefan Panhans, realised for VISIT, is part of their solo exhibition "The Pow(d)er of I Am Klick Klick Klick and a very very bad bad musical!". The title refers to the rhetoric used by Evangelical Protestant megachurches in the USA, preaching a market-compatible neoliberal ideology of individual self-optimisation under the guise of Christian morals. Their works are about communication with artificial intelligences, everyday racism or even celebrity cult. In our "very very bad bad musical", the dance around the golden calf mutates into a rap about the SUV in camouflage. The film was shot in the E.ON garage in Dortmund. Participating performers included Anne Ratte-Polle and Lisa Marie Janke (photo).
In addition to DEFENDER, the exhibition features five other video installations and various sculptural and photographic works, including Border Control (2021, premiere) and If You Tell Me When Your Birthday Is (Machinima Version) (2020), as well as HOSTEL (2018), Freeroam À Rebours, Mod#I.1 (2017/2021) and Noch ein Sportstück (2014).
