World Climate Conference in Bonn: VISIT Fellow Exhibits “Ministry of Plastic”

November 2017: Can art promote sustainability? This is the question participants of the “ARTPORT_GOOD FOOD COP23” panel sponsored by the innogy Foundation asked themselves at the COP23 in Bonn. Sam Hopkins, VISIT fellow, uses his art to explore ways in which people can reduce their ecological footprint. Hopkins presented his installation “Ministry of Plastic (touring exhibition)” in front of the Kunstmuseum Bonn as part of the programme “ARTPORT_GOOD FOOD COP23”. The exhibition, which is installed in a shipping container, shows his vision of a future in which plastic, a material which we now use to excess, is worth its weight in gold. The material is extremely rare and many people have never seen it in real life.
